Undertow
Tribes must paddle a large outrigger canoe out to a buoy, dive down to retrieve a bag of puzzle pieces from the ocean floor, then paddle back to shore and assemble the puzzle. Trivia
- The episode title "Hope to be Home" is drawn from a confessional by Raymond Okafor, who expressed that he hoped the tribe would make it far enough to not need to vote anyone else out — a sentiment that proved bitterly ironic.
- Raymond Okafor becomes the third castaway sent to Extinction Island. At 55, he is the oldest person voted out so far this season.
- Tribe Vanua has now lost four of the first four challenges they have competed in — making them statistically the weakest tribe through four episodes.
- With Raymond's elimination, Vanua is down to just four members, the fewest of any tribe heading into Episode 5.
- Tribe Yasawa has now won immunity in all three episodes in which a challenge has been held, remaining the only tribe with a perfect challenge record.
- The Undertow challenge is the first to involve swimming and diving, requiring castaways to hold their breath underwater — a notable physical escalation from earlier episodes.
