"Taste This!" is the fifth episode of Season 1, airing October 19, 2000. In a surprising turn, Tribe Vanua finally wins an immunity challenge, sending Kadavu to their first Tribal Council since Episode 2. Beau Fontaine is voted out and sent to Extinction Island. This episode also marks the formation of the season's first named alliance — The Importantés — a two-person pact between Jonah Prescott and Petra Vance of Tribe Yasawa.

Immunity Challenge — "Feeding Frenzy"
Feeding Frenzy
Each tribe must correctly identify and eat a series of increasingly unpleasant local Fijian delicacies — from raw sea urchin to fermented cassava paste to live grubs. Each tribe member must successfully complete one round. Any tribe member who refuses or fails their round earns their tribe a strike. Two strikes and the tribe is eliminated from the challenge. The last two tribes standing win immunity.

- The episode title "Taste This!" is drawn from a taunt made by Marcus Delgado toward Kadavu during the eating challenge, which quickly became a rallying cry for Vanua.
- This is Tribe Vanua's first immunity win since Episode 1's reward challenge — ending a three-episode losing streak.
- Beau Fontaine becomes the fourth castaway sent to Extinction Island. At 22, he is the youngest person eliminated so far.
- The Importantés is the first named alliance of Season 1, formed between Jonah Prescott and Petra Vance of Tribe Yasawa on Day 9.
- Kadavu now has only four members — equal to Vanua — after starting the season at full strength through Episode 4.
