"Bombed" is the seventeenth episode of Season 1, airing January 18, 2001, and the first part of a two-part triple elimination event. Two individual immunity challenges are held back-to-back, with Colton Briggs and Trevor Holt each winning one. With both immune, the remaining four — Priya Nair, Celeste Monroe, Kwame Asante, and Petra Vance — are vulnerable. Priya Nair is voted out first and permanently eliminated. The episode ends without resolution, cutting to black before the second vote is cast.

Triple Elimination Event: Three castaways will be eliminated across Episodes 17 and 18. This is Part 1 — Priya Nair is eliminated here. Parts 2 and 3 continue in Episode 18.

Priya Nair was voted out by Tribe Nadi and permanently eliminated — the second castaway to leave for good this season.

Story

The episode title "Bombed" refers to the showmance pair's night — Colton wins immunity but watches helplessly as Priya is voted out despite his frantic last-minute campaigning on her behalf. The word captures the detonation of the season's most consistent strategic duo.

With both Colton and Trevor immune, the vote was always going to land on one of the remaining four. Kwame — sitting on his Steal-a-Vote for eleven episodes — chose not to play it, calculating that his position was safe enough without burning the advantage. Instead, he quietly coordinated with Petra and Celeste to target Priya, framing her as the showmance's brain and a dangerous jury threat.

Colton, sensing the danger, attempted to redirect attention to Kwame's unknown advantage — telling Celeste he believed Kwame was hiding something. Celeste passed this information directly to Kwame. It only hardened the vote against Priya. At Tribal Council, Priya was voted out 3–1, her lone vote going to Kwame.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger: the host announces that a second Tribal Council will be held immediately in Episode 18, with two more players set to go.

Immunity Challenge 1 — "Blind Faith"

Individual Immunity Challenge · Day 37
Blind Faith
Castaways are blindfolded and must navigate a course guided only by verbal cues from a chosen caller standing on a platform above. Each castaway collects five puzzle pieces along the route, then assembles them at the finish line — still blindfolded. Colton Briggs, guided by Priya Nair's sharp and precise calling, assembled his puzzle first.

Immunity Challenge 2 — "Fire Walk"

Individual Immunity Challenge · Day 37
Fire Walk
A second individual immunity necklace is immediately put up for grabs in a fire-making challenge. Castaways must use flint, steel, and available materials to build a fire tall enough to burn through a rope suspended above their station. The first person to burn through their rope wins. Trevor Holt, relying on skills honed over his ten weeks on Extinction Island, built the fastest fire of the group.
